Origin marking ("made in" marking) - 22/10/2012

In France, there is no legal or regulatory obligation for origin marking of products, except for certain agricultural products and foodstuffs such as fruit and vegetables.

Within the exception of the abovementioned products, origin marking is optional and voluntary and is the responsibility of the manufacturer or importer.

NB : it is an offence to provide information which is false or likely to mislead consumers concerning the origin of a product. The French Consumer Code provides that the indication of origin must always be justified.
